Standards and Guidelines

The Accessible Technology and Compliance Committee has approved the following standards and guidelines (and where appropriate, associated checklists.)

Accessibility guidelines for multimedia

Guidelines that address the presentation of multimedia in various permutations (live vs. pre-recorded; presented in person vs. over the internet; presented to the public vs. to a known-and-controlled audiences, such as a class) and how and when the multimedia needs to be accessible.

A web based version of the guidelines, along with a Microsoft Word (.docx) version are available.

Computer Lab Accessibility Guidelines

The Computer Lab Accessibility Guidelines were developed to help computer lab managers across the University create accessible computer labs.  The guidelines are based on Section 508 of the Rehabilitation act of 1973, as amended, and the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design. A checklist has also been developed to help computer lab managers easily determine what, if anything, needs to be fixed.

Web Accessibility Standards and Guidelines

A standards and guidelines document has been created to help web designers and developers understand the requirements for creating accessible web sites, systems, and web-based content.   The guidelines are based on Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.0 level AA (WCAG 2.0 AA).

Learning space accessibilty guildeines

Temple is committed to ensuring that learning spaces - such as lecture halls, theater/auditoriums, studios and classrooms on Temple’s campuses meet accessibility standards.  The University regularly reviews all spaces.  More information on accessible learning spaces is available in the following guidelines and checklist.
